I'm going to build a heated bench with steel pipes, the system is 150mm, I have a 180mm recovery pipe, I would like to know if there is any problem in using these ? thanks

AFAIK there is no any hindrance to it if you have any chimney attached to the system.
I have just finished a 2,3 m long bench with one U-turn using 220 mm ceramic pipes to a 180 batchbox.
An old masonry man told me that he would have even tapered the last 1,5 m of it to 160 mm due to severely decreased volume of flue gases.
(that is a bit against what we do in rocket world, is it not ? :-))

in fact I am skeptical precisely because I have always thought that we should use tubes of the same diameter as the system
