i'm looking to visit one before i attempt to build my own. i have an older friend who has a lot of experience with chimneys and the like but he had never heard of rocket mass heaters. i shared by project with him and he was immediately enthralled by it and compelled to help. one of the first things he said though is that it would be wise to see one in person

if, by chance, you ever pass through central illinois you're welcome at our place. I have an 8" batch in my pole barn, i've been building rmh's since around 2011 and am totally convinced that they're the best design out there. I will probably build another this winter-- a 6" double shoebox.

oooh i'm sorry! i thought the forum would alert me by email when i got a response! yeah i'm near where I-91 starts. like the northern tip of I-91. i don't think my older chimney building friend would be down for a 6 hour drive though... but i travel a lot and will definitely give either of you a heads-up if i'm nearby!
