Do any of you stove builders have experience with using the glass that is commonly found in Oven doors? I would like to have a viewing port on my next build but i don't want to fork over a small fortune for ceramic glass. Would the oven glass be able to withstand the heat of a rocket stove?

I think that's what they are using. Well, that and the glass tops off electric stoves.
Just found out in the comment section of a baking blog that OXO is making borosilicate glass cookware. Known for its freezer to oven hardiness, it might work. Borosilicate glass is also showing up as plates for 3D printers, heat resistants unknown.

Borosilicate glass is only rated to about 500*C / 1000*F. You can get away with using it on doors so long as the flames do not come into contact with it, and you do not touch the hot glass with anything cool. In my experience it lasted about 18 months on average before breaking. There was a recent thread about it here: donkey32.proboards.com/thread/3418/edjumacate-me-using-glass-windows
