That's a very promising development guys. pinhead: Where would you place the P-channel and what would it look like? I also guess you could rotate the port and "liser" 90° couldn't you? this would open up a lot more design options to build a more elegant stove.

In my model, I opted to use a variation of the "S-Portal" (more advanced version of the P-channel) because it was so simple to employ and should be more efficient. www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10155850009951974&l=90c4c93f09

I've always wondered about that, would be great to see some experimentation along those lines.

Yea! I thought it was possible to form vortex only after the formerly speeded up gases (by a throat ) and then slowed down and encounter an obstacle on their way . Everyday is a school day.

I have been thinking of same design for years, but everyone told it won't work, so it was never built. Ceiling could be built with two layers with a small gap between them, which would allow air to get sucked into the port from all sides. www.dropbox.com/s/1cw0he6jfgafm6m/double_ceiling.jpg

Yep, Peter said few years back. That a firebox, with a port above, and, a vertical heat riser on top. Wouldn't work. So left it there. But the pic of the sketchup above tickles my fancy.

damn, every time I start a project and order materials you guys come up with a better design Yap. One month more waiting for me and I would have been on sweet uncharted waters with a promise in horizon . Well, there will be summer next year too I guess... My estimation about maintaining my current wife is one rocket thing built per year max...
