I've been wondering about ceramic chimney liner "cement" too. In Scandinavia, this is common chimney renovation. The "cement" is poured into the chimney and then a rubber plug is pulled up through the mix leaving a round hole. Another method uses a long rubber sausage which is inflated with air to form the hole. I believe it is rated to 1000°C. The one here is sprayed on:

When I started my design, I very quickly settled on perlite clay (for the riser, still unsure about the primary burner...). Good insulation, cheap... However, it seems almost no one ever mentions perlite, so I'm starting to think it has downsides I'm missing...? It's not often mentioned because it's often assumed. I made my riser out of clay-perlite and it's working perfectly after over a year so far. Ok, then I'll stick with clay-perlite. Thanks! What did you use for the burning chamber?

I was wondering the same thing; could Space Shuttle Tiles be used to line a Rocket Stove?
Since they’re in short supply I looked for alternatives.
AliBaba has cheap Al2O3 tiles, and the minimum order was small.
They also have Silica bricks, but I didn’t find any small order quantities in that.
I just thought Peter might have already tried this and could say yea/nay on their use.

Didn't use tiles of any kind (yet). Once I tried to narrow a port with strips of tile, though. It turned out to be total failure, not so much as the tiles failed but they just fell off when the firebox got really hot. The mortar I used was specced for 1200 C so I thought it would work. Probably it's because of the difference in heating up and expanding between the tile and the refractory behind it.
