Go back to basics.. Re-examine the Fox Stove. It's better than you might think! Rocket style cooker/heaters can be built with mud and trash.. Resist the temptation to IMPORT stuff; if you are designing for refugees, you need a pattern (or set of patterns) that can be made on the spot, with what's at hand.
Sorry, been too busy, havent looked at this new (to me) and very interesting forum much. making 50x tiny woodburners next week in east devon, (see windysmithy website) with volunteers. wil contact you, all needs sorting out, but i can only do so much. would be great to get a long term resident making stuff on site, they need to have respect of their neighbours and a secure place to work from. most of my contacts on site are working with women/ children so havent heard of anyone in this position.
We can get cheap Ezy stoves from the UK importer, not sure what you guys think of them but they seem to work OK and are as cheap as making one and geting it there. Main thing is training and getting people used to them as fart as i can see. bigger ones useful too, the kitchens are able to keep on top of gas (ito security and cost) so requires a good bit of time on site to suss out needs etc.

daniel: in my experience as I am working now on something of that nature, I have thought of making a heat exchanger and distributing the heat through vents using a slower fan. Now after a few years I realize that mass heaters give out primarily radiant heat, for

vesuvius: Do any of you have experience with using the glass from home oven doors on a rocket stove? I'd like to have a viewing port on my stove but don't want to fork out for new ceramic glass. Any thought as to whether it would take the heat of a rocket stove?
