Well, despite having faced "somewhat" death today. I've bought my second load of bricks for my first or second mass heater. Well, about 2.4 metric tons. I was way overloaded on my tyres. (not tires) And i could have killed myself and the friend who was with me. Thankfully i was doing only 40kmh when this happened, and there was a car park right by. (you know the roadside, type, graveled tarmac type, where you stop in the countryside) But i'm dead chuffed, as i can start a real rocket mass heater. Well, i need a door, and à pair of cleanouts. I would like to find a range top, as i would preffer to avoid dismantling the range retrofit. I had a bit of bricks of all sizes with me before that. Full size, splits, mulots (full lengh 2"x2" aproximately) and half splits (full lengh split, half width) Some old bricks too. I have "pierre du gard" too (you will have to check that) 250€ for the two bagfull of high end firebricks.

That's a great load of brick- sorry to hear about the blow out, Max!!! What's funny to me about this thread is that "Chappy" was my nickname in college- still is among some of my old cohorts! Can't wait to see what you come up with, French One.....

Can't wait to see what you come up with, French One..... I can't wait either. But i have plenty of things to do before! Many many things. Do the electricity, plumbing, rendering of the insides. Then reinforcing the floor. And get back to work too.

They're mine! Projects are on their way! The big round tona flue elements are for the workshop heater! Hundred euros for the whole lot. I think the outside bits might do the transition between bells.

Congrats. Dang, that's a mountainside off there to the right. Well, i live in the french alps. On the italian border. 5000ft high. I work in the winter for a chairlift company. Top of the resort 9186ft high. Nearest high summit is les écrins, 13461ft high. About 5 miles from me. May be not even. Tho my valley is open to the south east. Wide, with a view on the "pic de rochebrune" and the Viso. That's on the italian border, further south east. The border is may be seven miles away, in the next valley. But we are about 3 hours away from the mediterranean. That is mountain drive roads. Lavender fields may be 20 miles away. It's quite a nice place. Today we hit 30 celcius (ish) While in Grenoble or Turin, the two nearest big cities, they had around 40C°! 11pm, i have 22C° now. That's nice! I love my mountains. That's aproximately the view from my backyard. That's my winter office. My actual backyard. And an autumn view.

Well, i was on the hunt for a cooktop! I checked "leboncoin" on friday or saturday. A guy was giving a "fourneau bouilleur" (mixture of range and boiler, wood or coal powered!) Got it tonight. Complete, doors, cast iron top and all. From 10 miles away. Now, i'm on the hunt for a stove or insert door with a window.

Well, count about 2h30 on top of that, to pick up a car, and come to my place. Tallard airport would be closer! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gap%E2%80%93Tallard_Airport At about 1h 40 minutes. Tho, the runway might be a bit short. You might as well take a slower plane and parachute jump above my place! Phew, that jet is a bit dear innit?
