With help from friends and youtube, I took my first shot at cooking lamb steaks. The house smells amazing! When I started I wasn't very hungry and only steamed baby carrots as a side. Now I am starving. Lamb steaks cooked in a cast iron pan with butter, garlic, and rosemary. They are pink in the center. There was a third steak but it disappeared. Gremlins.

The standard Copycat Wendy's Chili recipe minus most of the tomatoes because Wendy's doesn't have a lot of tomatoes in it. My favorite type of chili.

Snow/Ice storm here so I am a little stir crazy indoors. Decided to try to smoke brisket in my slow cooker. I bombed but lessons learned First, loaded up the crockpot. Placed the brisket on the rack. Cooked on low for about 5 hours. The result, I over cooked it: There was too much juice. The brisket was basically steam baked. The meat is still super tender but not what I wanted. I also made the mistake of putting on the rub the night before according to the recipe. Won't do that again.

I always use the English Cut (Shoulder area) for my roasts... because the meat absolutely falls apart after cooking in the crockpot.

I didn't cook this but thought I would mention this sandwich because it was the best veggie burger I've ever had. Courtesy of the Flaming Ice Cube, the Pesto Burger. (Took the pic off the web.)

Where did my pictures go? I guess I needed to create some storage space and lost them. FALL is almost here!!! YAH!!! Time to cook. This Soup Junkie picked up a new little cheap crock pot tonight. Made some steamy Mexican Vegetable soup.
