That's a LOT better than apples! We used to pick mussels right off the rocks at low tide on the Long Island Sound, steam and dip in drawn butter- ah, the memories of my home place, long ago! E

That sure is a good memory, Eric. I've heard only positive things about Long Island. The place sounds idyllic. I'm inland now so I do the best I can. My dad introduced me to seafood as a child and my love for shellfish only grew with visits to the Low Country. I'm a major shellfish junkie. I even made my family Alaskan King Crab for Thanksgiving one year. That didn't go over well. Ha! I will probably throw together a paella here shortly with mussels and shrimp.

I love cooking with brick! My first try at Smoked Beef Shoulder Roast. I don't think I did it right but that doesn't matter because it is so freakin' good! I wish I had smell-o-vision.

Only in the 20-30 range here today. On the verge of winter. I've started making some chicken stock and gonna fill the house with the wonderful aroma.

Sauteed some mushrooms, didn't know what do to after that. Roasted some garlic and didn't know what to do with that. Finally figured I would throw them in a pot and make a veggie soup. Doesn't look very good from the picture but it has been cooking for hours and is very tasty.
