Hi Esbjorn I never did post the photos! The plaster lasted very well. The surface went sandy in places and there were some hairline cracks but nothing a thin coat of clap slip and a damp sponge couldn't fix. It stuck solid to the bricks even when I took the stove apart back in July.

ONe quick note, on a heater we built 4 years ago we put some burlap between the browncoat and finish plaster. Any of that near the heat source wanted to delaminate a bit. Must have been something to do with the way different materials want to move at temperature. Burlap IN the belly of the browncoat was no problem… But in general i'd be cautious of anything that acts as a layer boundary...
