Hi everybody. Well, i find my batch and bell a bit low on heat extraction. permies.com/t/44806/Cobbling-workshop-heater-cooktop-oven11m² of isa. The black oven ranges from 350/380c° at full tilt. Down to 200c° at ember stage. The chimney, at the same height as the first Bell/black oven's thermometre. Ranges between 90c° and 150C°. I think it's way too hot in the chimney. What is your opinion? I wonder how much more isa i can add.

I think the metal inside the masonry might be acting to some degree as an insulator. There's bound to be a small air gap behind it, as the metal will be expanding and contorting, so a lot of the surface would be limited to radiant transfer as there's no contact to conduct across. Maybe once the metal reaches the temp of the gases it cant transfer it fast enough to the masonry to keep up and is radiating back into the gases.
