linkPulled apart the stove after 2 winters of not touching it, to find the Dense (box store) fire brick with my homemade clay slip had started coming apart. (still cant wrap my head around what did that). Strangely enough it seemed to work just fine. (unintended EGR?) I only pulled it apart to clean it out. New riser is stainless steel pipe with 2300 degree ceramic blanket. Wow! super fast start ups and very sustained high temps throughout the burn. Thanks to all the people who kept testing and trying new things and pass it along.

You know, i keep telling metal is doomed in rockets.
But refractories take a serious beating too.
When you raise these of 300/350 celcius in less than 20 minutes, sure the bricks split, and the mortar crumbles.
