I had been advised to make this a thread.
I am trying to build a "Donkey Cyclone". This is in a flat roofed garage that previous owners had converted to basic living space. The space is attached to the main house which is not liveable at this time, there is an existing chimney made of 16 inch U shape concrete blocks, no liner, this is at the back end of the building, I cannot build the Cyclone at that end as it would have to sit over a small basement that has little structural support and floods, the entrance to the living space is in that corner as well, so the exhaust has to travel under the floor. The Cyclone is being built over solid earth floor as close to the edge of the basement to give it a shortest possible run to the chimney.. i I cannot punch a hole through the roof.
From previous newby question thread below
My problem is with the exhaust or chimney, in my build it comes out of the Cyclone at floor level the same as donkey's but then has to do 2 x 90 degree turns dropping down under the floor to a crawl space, it travels 12 feet horizontally, then straight into a concrete vertical chimney, that is about 20 feet high. The entrance to this was originally for the gas furnace, six inch pipe, there is no liner in the chimney and it is attached to the outside walk of the house. My concern is will the Cyclone be able to push gases out of such a convoluted chimney? I don't have many options regarding placement and chimney, this is my only heat source other than a gas stove. The area I have to heat is 13x30 feet with very little insulation. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome. Thx
