Hi folks. I have been tinkering with RMH and stoves for a year or so and realize that unless one is willing to purchase brand new materials, (steel tubing and pipe and such ),those materials can be hard to come by. I’m pretty cheap so I refuse to buy new stuff. However, I’ve recently been fortunate enough to acquire a very nice piece of scrap. And I’m seeking suggestions on how to best use it for a rocket heater . It is a barrel shaped stainless steel tank about three feet in diameter and five feet high. And it already has a six inch diameter opening with a flange coming out one side at the bottom. So that could serve as a place to attach a fire box or the exhaust. I would like to get as much input as possible as this is a rare find and I do not want to screw it up and end up with something un-usable.
Thank you

Something that lovely I'd be inclined to save and use for a rocket powered hot water system...
A large tank like that would be a huge radiant heat source, if used as a bell...
What are you wanting to use it for? In place of the radiant barrel over the rocket core?

I got three Stainless Steel used 55 gallon drums like that. One is the top of my J-tube rocket. I DON'T suggest using that 6" port. Keep it for ash clean out and make the exhaust go out the bottom. My stoveThe other two I am saving for a stove I am building at camp to store hot water in. I plan to put them on top of a masonry heater to store heat and hot water.
