Hello, A proposed location for RMH installation is in the same room as a Rumford fireplace. The desire is to keep the Rumford intact, though I'm not sure it offers any particular advantages of its own. The room is around 500 sq ft, and they would not be on opposite ends of the room. Is having two chimneys in the same room asking for trouble with pressures, draw, etc? Thanks

Yes if the house is tight the RHM will pull a draft down the chimney of the Rumford if it is not blocked somehow.

Rumfords often had a flap up on the smoke shelf that you could pull down to shut of the chimney when not in use.
