hi,Im building 20 cm/8"/ batch box monster. It will have ISA of cca7.5-8 m2 in one bell ,with cast iron oven insert. The dimensions of fire chamber are, width 33cm/12.9"/,height 43cm/16.9"/ and depth 60cm/23.6"/.The heat riser is 20x20cm/8"/ and will be 140cm tall. Now ,im getting to problems with connecting the stove to existing chimney ,witch is 40x40cm/15.7"/ old brick chimney. My plan was to use 20cm/8"/pipe and elbow, but now i will be probably forced to use only 18cm/7"/pipe and elbow for connection . My guess is, the gasses should be cooled enough and contracted enough, to go thru the 18cm pipe without problems ,but could someone more knowledgeable elaborate on it please. here is a ling for some pictures.thanks a lot.Radek s101.photobucket.com/user/snake11112/library/

although i am not an expert but i have a feeling that it should work. i am thinking about the Kuznetzov stoves and they have much smaller chmineys, so i think that in the bell system like this making a connection smaller, while having the chimney bigger should not be a problem. but as you say someone more knowledgeable should comment on this.
BTW. another great build Radek and another wonderfull doors:)

I would not be surprised if it worked because gases are contracted as you said. But I suppose that Peter tried it and as he did not speak about this, there must be a good reason! I should buid a 25 cm system and I woud prefer to use a smaller tube for the exit, like you!

Well, i have a system working with 6 inch system size, and 4 inch transition through the wall, to go to the chimney of 14x20cm in brick. Works right, exept when i have southern wind, or the whole system is cold.

I can't see a reason why it should not work even if I remember that Peter says that the speed of gases must stay quick.

hi thank you for the comments and advice.Luckily i was able to figure out how to build a 20cm x20cm channel to connect the stove in to chimney .I still have about a week of work to close the top and finnish it up.Unfortunetly the weather is really moist this days ,so i really don't know, how long will it take to dry up so we can make first fire. Here im adding a link to some pics of the build and progress. s101.photobucket.com/user/snake11112/library/?view=recent

hi independentenergy no the heat riser is insulated with 3.8cm/1.49"/ of fire wool, its just not done yet on the pictures.I dont think the stove would work without the riser being insulated. The insulated riser is necessary in rocket stove business. Here is a pics of inside the stoves bell with some insulation in place.Im adding a link to some current pics of the build. s101.photobucket.com/user/snake11112/library/?view=recent. I have made a few small fires already ,just to help with drying process and the stoves are working fine in this point. Hope to be able to load the stove full within few weeks. Attachments:

Radek, all your mass heaters are like works of art. I'm building a 4" batchbox here in france and your work and designs are a wonderful source of inspiration! Thanks for posting this with so much detailed pics !

That's such a beautiful stove.... I agree with yasintoda.
2 questions from me. What is the grey rendering that you used? and what is the final white rendering?
